Parry's Pizza
Russian River Tap Takeover - Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar, Highlands Ranch, CO

March 23, 2013 - Boy what an event! For all that made it out to our Russian River tap takeover in Highlands Ranch, you’re welcome! What a great lineup of craft brewed beer! We tapped Consecration, Temptation, Damnation, Supplication and Sanctification at 11AM on a day that saw single digit temperatures, blowing snow, icy roads and did we say snow? Yeah, plenty of snow.

It seemed as if we might have to cancel this event upon waking to the winter wonderland outside. But with our eye on giving our customers the craft beer they want was too important to let mother nature stand in the way. We went ahead and opened the door to the public and what a great idea it was.  At 11:15AM our bar was packed and the dining room was close to it. Coloradans love their craft beer - no doubt about it.

Supplication was the first keg kicked - imagine that. Some patrons stayed and tried all five of these beers and then promptly jumped into a warm cab and were whisked away to their humble abodes. Many of the patrons asked where Pliney the Elder was and were answered with the news that they didn’t welcome. Even though we secured five great beers from Russian River, Pliney the Elder was not one of them.

We understand: we’re the new guys on the block and patience is the key to securing the greatest beers we can get our hands on. Between three locations, we have 140 taps pouring craft beer. No lie. We rotate kegs with great frequency allowing our patrons to try a bevy of different beers no matter what day you’re in. It goes without saying that Pliney the Elder would make for a fantastic addition to our lineup.

Russian River - We love your beers and so do our patrons.

Here are some images from the event:

We woke to snow, ice and wind on March 23rd, but we opened the door anyway. Glad we did.

The bar was packed by 11:15A - Doors opened at 11A.

The dining room - also packed at 11:15A.

New Location: Greenwood Village, CO

There simply isn’t enough taps in this state to satisfy the true craft beer enthusiast. That’s why we’re on a mission to open more Parry’s Pizza locations where the beer flows like water and the pizza is done New York style.

Our new location will be opening up in Greenwood Village, CO hopefully around March 1st. This location will have 50 craft beers on draft, just like our Highlands Ranch location. But don’t expect this to be any different than our other beer-centric locations (Castle Rock and Highlands Ranch). We’ll be doing beer events at this location just like those you’ve come to love and enjoy. And if you’ve been to one of these locations and you didn’t love or enjoy it, well, give this one a chance.

The address for this new location will be: 5970 S Holly St., Greenwood Village, CO 80111.

Here are some photos of the buildout progress. We love you, Cleve (our general contractor):

The Maiden Run of Ale to the Women at Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar

On December 4th, we hosted our very first Ale to the Women event at our Highlands Ranch location. As the name suggests, this event was for the women and it went over most fabulously. Our very own director of beer flow, Melanie Whitcomb assembled a group of 15 women to attend and join in on the festivities. Boulder Beer Company showed up with their head brewmaster, David Zuckerman and our special Boulder Beer representative, Laura McLane to lend some very interesting inside knowledge of their beers and styles of beers to our female, Ale Yeah Club faithful.

This event was centered around craft beer and food pairings. A five course meal was assembled by our kitchen, some items even made with Boulder’s own beer others were simply paired well with their beer. David talked to the group of ladies about the subtle and not so subtle differences in the beers that were being served and how those flavors paired with each other opening up a wealth of new beers and foods for them to enjoy in ways they never thought possible. Discussions were had, laughter sometimes ensued, but certainly a good time for all of those in attendance.

The menu varied from a fresh salad all the way to an actual beer float made with Boulder Beer’s very own, Planet Porter and vanilla ice cream. Here’s the complete menu that was served:

Nut, Fruit & Spinach Salad - dried cherries, feta cheese, crispy bacon, sliced red onion, chopped spiced nuts, tossed with fresh baby spinach

This salad will feature Boulder Beer’s, Sweaty Betty Wheat in our wheat beer raspberry vinaigrette.

Warm Salted Pretzel Bites - served with a homemade, savory beer cheese sauce prepared with Boulder Beer’s own, Buffalo Gold

Chicken Saltimbocca - organic chicken, Italian prosciutto, fresh Buffalo mozzarella, spinach, served in a savory glaze

Five Boroughs Pizza - pepperoni, spicy sausage, bacon, onion, green pepper, black olives and mushrooms

Planet Porter Chocolate Cake - fudge cake made with Planet Porter ganache

Planet Porter Beer Float - made with vanilla ice cream and Planet Porter

Stay tuned to our Facebook page and make certain that if you haven’t already signed up for our Ale Yeah Club, get on it! We will be hosting many events in the very near future that only members will get invites to or will even know about. Click here to sign up, now!

Ale Yeah!

What a Summer!

This summer has been jam packed with events at Parry’s in Highlands Ranch. We started the summer off with the Oskar Blues Tap Takeover in early June which proved to be so successful that they are coming back, this Saturday to do yet another tap takeover. In July we hosted New Belgium Brewing with a host of specialty beers from their stock pile of awesomeness. We even had La Follie in the house. That one lasted less than two hours - no doubt about the quality and fanfare of that beer.

Just two weeks later we opened the doors for the public to get their fair share of some beloved Dogfish Head beers. What a joy that was. We tapped Midas Touch, Festina Peche, Palo Santo Marron, Aprihop, Tweason’ale, Noble Rot, Burton Baton, Red and White, 120 Minute IPA, 90 Minute IPA, Saison du BUFF, My Antonia, Sah’ tea, Namaste, Indian Brown Ale and Ta Henket.

On August 9th we were very moved to hold a charity event for Alex Sullivan, one of 12 victims of the Aurora theatre shooting that took place in late July. We sought to donate a chunk of money to his widow, Cassandra Sullivan and thought what better way to do so than to leverage the fact that we make pizza and sell beer. So, we contacted several breweries across the state for donations of their fine craft. Avery, Arvada Beer Co., Ft. Collins and Great Divide all donated beer for us to serve at all three of our locations on the day of the event. We donated all sales of those donated beers to her cause along with the sales of all Meat Lovers pizzas. When the curtain fell, we were left with $10,000 to pass on to Mr. Sullivan’s widow.

It was such a terrible thing to happen to our community on that fateful day. But like most communities across this great land, ours stepped up and truly showed what being an American and equally as important, a Coloradan is all about. The brewing community really knows how to get behind a cause and propel it forward to success. Thanks to all who donated time, services and products for this event.

We look forward to an exciting fall and winter, this year and it will be even sweeter once our Castle Rock location has launched its 40 handles of craft beer. That’s right, our Castle Rock location is going to begin pouring some fabulous craft beer through it’s newly installed 40 lines. We will of course be having special craft beer events at this location, starting very soon.

So, keep up with us on Facebook, Twitter and if you’re an extreme craft beer geek, our Ale Yeah Club. Here’s a link to sign up for this club (below). It’s our beer club, but it’s FREE. Yes phree. We will email members occasionally about special tappings that only Ale Yeah Club members will have notice of. There will also be Ale Yeah events like pairings and club parties coming this fall and winter. Not to mention…you get happy hour Sunday - Tuesday, all day long. That should be worth membership in any fine, red-blooded human being’s mind.

New Belgium Brewing & Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar Tap It Right

There’s nothing like an event where the weather is nice, the greatest local craft beer radio show is outside broadcasting live and the beer is flowing with gusto. No doubt - we like to throw parties and beer is always a big part of it all. The joy of adults soaking up some sun and consuming some of New Belgium’s greatest beers - ever!

If you were there, just remember…but if you didn’t make it out, boy - it’s just not right to be you. We tapped La Folie, Ohh La La, Tart Lychee, Lost Abbey/New Belgium Brett Beer, Bier de Mars, New Belgium Super Cru, Imperial Berliner Wiess, Abbey Grand Cru, Cocoa Mole, Prickly Pear Passion Saison, Fall Wild Ale and other core beers from their collection.

We also had John Turk and The Gubna from Colorado Craft Beer Radio Show on site for their weekly broadcast. These guys know beer and radio. If beer and radio are your thing, too, there’s no reason not to listen to what these guys are doing over on AM 760.

When Parry’s Pizzeria does a tap takeover, it’s awesome! No, it’s living. We pride ourselves on our efforts to bring the greatest beer in the world to the locals of the south suburbs and beyond. But we don’t stop there. If you attend one of these events, chances are you will have had a mountain of fun, beer and the joy of having some of the limited brews that these crafty beer makers have ever come up with.

We do have our Dogfish Head special pouring coming up, Saturday, July 28th. This is another event that you shouldn’t miss. Off centered beer for off centered people will be a flowin’.

Take a look at some of the photos from the New Belgium Brewing tap takeover at Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar, below:

Tappin’ All That’s Good - There are photos for proof.

It’s been a great five months since our opening and we owe it to a lot of different people. But most importantly, we would like to thank our customers, employees, vendors and beer reps and the families of all of these people for making it possible. Hey, it’s just about everyone, but we’re feeling AWESOME, today.

We keep the beer flowing with ease at Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar. It was proven true during our past two tap takeovers with two of the greatest breweries in the state. Yes, Odell Brewing and Oskar Blues have taken over our taps in the past two months and if you were there, this was no joke. There were many, many special beers available at both of these events.

Odell Brewing had us out to their beautiful facility in April to brew our own beer in their pilot system. What a great thing, really! The beer was crafted to pair well with our own pizza sauce and dough. And boy did they deliver. We ended up with what we called, Parry’s Empirical Pale Ale at over 6.9% abv. That’s nothing to scoff at for a pale ale. (Ask your friend, they know this.) We will be pouring this beer all summer or until the yummy supplies last.

On June 2nd, we hosted Oskar Blues for their own tap takeover. They brought the equivellant of a circus with them to our tap room. There were signs, banners, wind socks, drunken clowns (well, no drunken clowns) and a host of beer that was special to anyone who knows and loves craft brewed beer. Yeah, they did right and the weather even cooperated. Pheeeew.

And if you’ve missed these two events or the Avery tap takeover back in April, don’t worry, we’ll be hosting New Belgium on the 14th of July. They will be bringing Berlinerweiss, Biere de Mars, Ohh La La, New Belgium Super Cru, Abbey Grand Cru, Fall Wild Ale, Prickly Passion Saison, Tart Lychee, Cocoa Mole & The Lost Abbey Collaboration Brett Beer plus some unnamed beers to be determined the day before the event.

It’s time for pictures…

Brew Day at Odell Brewing

This past Monday, Ryan O’dell of Odell Brewing in Ft. Collins, invited us to their brewery to brew a special, one off beer for Parry’s Pizzeria. So, we packed our belongings in a car and drove north (past many cops) to meet him, bright and early at the brewery. Ryan met us in their taproom and then walked us through the brewery and gave us a tour, stopping every so often to introduce us to members of the Odell team. We were also introduced to the brewer that would be crafting our beer. He was already hard at work on the beginnings of our Odell-brewed specialty but he took some time to shake our hands and introduce the ingredients that were going to be used in our beer.

When we were first approached by Odell about the prospect of them brewing a special beer for us, we knew immediately that we wanted to serve a beer that would be great for summer time sipping on a warm day and it had to pair well with our pizza sauce. So, what better than oregano and some other herbs, right? Well, that’s what we did.

We look forward to having this beer on our taps just in time for Odell’s takeover of our tap room (coming this month, Saturday the 19th, 11A - Close.) It will be fermenting up until the Odell event. This is a beer that no one else will have - ever. That’s special to us and we hope you can make it out to get yourself some and feel as special as we do.

The people up at Odell’s are producing some damn fine beer. Their classic collection which you can find in most liquor stores, leaves no beer drinker without their preferred style. So, the next time your in your favorite liquor store, do yourself and your guests a favor and get a sixer or two. It’s hard to believe that anyone with a taste for beer and a tongue can’t find one beer that would suit them from Odell’s line.

It was a great honor to be treated with such a healthy dose of hospitality at Odell Brewing. (That lunch was pretty good, too, Ryan. Good Choice.) We are anxiously awaiting the results to gush from the fermenter, filled into some kegs and then poured into your glasses. We look forward to sharing with everyone!

Take a look at some of our photos from the day’s events.

David Parry (owner of Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar) dumping some fresh herbs into this special beer.

Close up of the ingredients plunging into what should be some awesome brew.

The smell was unbelievably great.

We went with the natural herbs. Naturally, right?

Hops. Staying put.

Odell IPA was being bottled while we were there. We just so happened to be handed a few bottles right off the line. We drank them, of course.

You’ll never have an Odell IPA this fresh unless you go to Ft. Collins. Do it. You won’t be disappointed.

A lot of bottles.

You’ll be seeing these in your local stores, real soon.

Avery Tap Takeover: Our First Tap Takeover

Our tap takeover with Avery Brewing went so well that we invited them back next weekend. They declined. No, but in all truthfulness, it went on with very few hitches. Thanks to all of those that showed up for this momentous occasion. We knew that we’d have plenty of patrons coming for the pies and the beer, but we didn’t know that they’d keep coming until the closing hour. We couldn’t be more thankful to all of you.

We thought we’d post some photos of the event as a reminder to those that were here, a warning to those that didn’t make it out and simply a chronicle of an event gone well. We planned the pretty picknick, but we couldn’t have predicted the fun. The beer was flowin’ early and often as Avery beer lovers swarmed the bar for the really rare stuff.  The bottles of Uncle Jacob’s Stout were pretty much sold by 4pm and the Muscat bottles moved at almost the same clip.

It is our intent to create an atmosphere at our tap room that is unparalleled in service, offerings and selection. We look forward to many more of these events and of course, you’re in our future with your thirsty beer face.

See you soon. Ale Yeah!

Cinco de Mayo is upon us and we’re bringing in Oregon’s, Deschutes Brewery to celebrate. It makes total sense (if you don’t think about it.) There will be plenty of their pint glasses on hand to be distributed to those that show up and purchase one of their crafty brews. We’re running this from 5:30P - 7:30P on Saturday, May 5th.All of our pint nights have resulted in giving away all of the pint glasses that the selected brewery has brought in. So, get here early, stay late. Get your glass on!
